My reflection today continues from Fresh Bread:
“ Even Jesus was weary from the journey: He sat down by the well of life, too tired to go on with his apostles, and he asked for refreshment. There were times when he had to withdraw to the hillsides, to be alone with the father, to be refocused and re-energized in love. Jesus speaks to us out of his own life experience of ministry when he offers us these words of consolation: ‘Come to me, all who labor and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light‘ (Mt. 11:28-30)” Joyce Rupp
It is comforting to know that Jesus experienced weariness and fatigue. It makes it easier for us to turn to him and bring our concerns and burdens to him. He promises us that he will help us with our difficulties. So let us take the time
and offer up to God our difficult time. As my mother used to say,”Offer it up.”
