My reflection today:
“ Acceptance means that you can find the serenity within to let go of the past with its mistakes and regrets, move into the future with a new perspective, and appreciate the opportunity to take a second chance.
Acceptance means that when difficult times come into your life, you’ll find security again and comfort to relieve any pain. You’ll find new dreams, fresh hopes, and forgiveness of the heart.
Acceptance does not mean that you will always be perfect. It simply means that you’ll always overcome imperfection.
Acceptance is the road to peace – letting go of the worst, holding onto the best, and finding the hope inside that continues throughout life.
Acceptance is the heart’s best defense, love’s greatest asset, and the easiest way to keep believing in yourself and others.” – Regina Hill
One of the things that Regina did not touch on is acceptance of God’s will.
We say it every day when we pray the Our Father. Thy will be done! Do we really mean it?
Sometimes I just say it and don’t even think about it.

My reflection today:
“ In your joyous moments, He basks in your praise, thanks, and laughter. When circumstances seem unjust, He hears your pleas. In your times of meditative contemplation, He listens and inspires. When life has dealt a low blow and grief is your constant companion, your cries wrench His heart. And in those times when you cannot speak, even then God hears your voice.” – Cindy B. Stevens
Imagine God basking in your prayers, thanks and laughter.
Our God is with us in our good times and in our difficult times.
I never thought about the point that Cindy made that God hears our voice even when we cannot speak. Wow!

My reflection today:
“ We cannot change the past; we just need to keep the good memories and acquire wisdom from the mistakes we’ve made. We cannot predict the future; we just need to hope and pray for the best and what is right, and believe that’s how it will be. We can live a day at a time, enjoying the present and always seeking to become a more loving and better person.” Karen Berry
Karen gives us some great advice.
It is true that we cannot change the past but I never thought about it as a great way to acquire wisdom from mistakes that we’ve made.
Let us ask God to give us the grace to live in the present and to become a more loving and better person.

My reflection today:
“ As I stand on the edge of this day, grant me the strength I need to move forward on this journey with grace. Grant me the courage to travel with compassion as my companion through each hour, the humor to lighten each moment and bring light and laughter to others I meet, and the smiles to scatter along the path that stretches before me. Grant me the wisdom to recognize stones on my path and to be able to distinguish between those I can move, those I can step over, and those I need to leave alone. Grant me the calmness to accept that I don’t always have to be right, to face difficulties with serenity, and to find peace within myself. Grant me the skills and
confidence to face whatever challenges and joys this day brings, and grant me the capacity to relish every moment.” – Angela M. Churm
Imagine asking God to grant courage, humor, wisdom, calmness and skills to face whatever challenges and joys the day brings.
Each day would be amazing!
We CAN ask God for all of these. Do we dare? Let’s just have the faith to believe that God will grant our request.

My reflection today:
“ Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inward peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.” – Francis de Sales
Francis de Sales was a bishop in Geneva. This quote was written about 400 years ago and unfortunately it is still relevant today.
In spite of all the craziness, let us touch into the spirit of Jesus and remain calm.

My reflection today. I saw this on a friend’s post. No words need to be added. Very powerful:
I asked one of my friends who has crossed 70 & is heading to 80 what sort of changes he is feeling in himself?
He sent me the following very interesting lines, which I would like to share with you ….
#1 After loving my parents, my siblings, my spouse, my children, my friends, now I have started loving myself.
#2 I just realized that I am not “Atlas”. The world does not rest on my shoulders.
#3 I now stopped bargaining with vegetables & fruits vendors. A few pennies more is not going to burn a hole in my pocket but it might help the poor fellow save for his daughter’s school fees.
#4 I pay my waitress a big tip. The extra money might bring a smile to her face. She is toiling much harder for a living than me
#5 I stopped telling the elderly that they’ve already narrated that story many times. The story makes them walk down the memory lane & relive the past.
#6 I have learned not to correct people even when I know they are wrong. The onus of making everyone perfect is not on me. Peace is more precious than perfection.
#7 I give compliments freely & generously. Compliments are a mood enhancer not only for the recipient, but also for me. And a small tip for the recipient of a compliment, never, NEVER turn it down, just say “Thank You”
#8 I have learned not to bother about a crease or a spot on my shirt. Personality speaks louder than appearances.
#9 I walk away from people who don’t value me. They might not know my worth, but I do.
#10 I remain cool when someone plays dirty to outrun me in the rat race. I am not a rat & neither am I in any race.
#11 I am learning not to be embarrassed by my emotions. It’s my emotions that make me human.
#12 I have learned that it’s better to drop the ego than to break a relationship. My ego will keep me aloof, whereas with relationships I will never be alone.
#13 I have learned to live each day as if it’s the last. After all, it might be the last.
#14 I am doing what makes me happy. I am responsible for my happiness, and I owe it to myself. Happiness is a choice. You can be happy at any time, just choose to be!

I decided to send this to all my friends. Why do we have to wait to be 60 or 70 or 80, why can’t we practice this at any stage and age….
I stole this, I don’t know who to credit it to, but thank you!
Good to share

My reflection today continues from Fresh Bread:
“ Go for a walk in the forest or just down the street if you have some trees nearby whose leaves have turned. Let your heart roam through the leaves. Think thoughts of vulnerability. Pick up a leaf. Take it home with you. Place it somewhere where you will see it often. Let it remind you of the call to be vulnerable.
Take time to browse through a gospel. Note all the times that Jesus opened himself to hurt a misunderstanding. Allow yourself to be a bit more open and vulnerable to someone whom you love. Surrender yourself a bit more to God’s power working through you. Let October be a time when the value of vulnerability is strengthened in your life.” – Joyce Rupp
Remember being vulnerable is to know the power in surrendering ourselves to God.
It is to allow the power of God‘s Spirit to take over and to move through our being.
Our culture tells us to be strong and independent, our culture has taken God out of our society.
We need to bring God back! Maybe then we would have less riots and shootings.

My reflection today continues from Fresh Bread:
“ Again, I think of the trees and I look to them. Have you ever noticed that some trees still have leaves hanging onto them in deep December? Long after autumn the dead brown things clutch in clumps and ends of branches or trail alone at the end of a twig. They must know that eventually winter claims them all. Like the leaves are those humans who think the growth is possible without letting go. They deny, fight, or refuse to accept what is being asked in order that new life can take place.
This October, let us pause and allow the falling leaves to remind us of the call to be vulnerable, the call to be open to the possibility of being hurt, the call to accept and to grow from the daily dyings of our days and to love as Jesus loved.” – Joyce Rupp
This October all of us are certainly vulnerable.
Who would’ve thought we would be dealing with a pandemic, with a disease that we know very little about?
It has impacted so many lives in so many ways. Let us reflect on what is God calling us to at this time.

October 6, 2020
My reflection today continues from Fresh Bread:
“ Being vulnerable does not mean being weak and allowing anyone or anything to hurt us. It is actually a great inner strength which comes from freely choosing to be open to being wounded because we are open to loving in the manner in which Jesus loved. To be vulnerable in this way is to freely choose:
–to be open to the other, no matter who that other is
-to stand firmly on our convictions amid controversy
-to risk our voice or actions even though there’s a possibility of being misunderstood, rejected, thwarted or even condemned
-to share our faith even though we may be questioned or ignored, laughed at or thought to be stupid
-to risk failure in order to discover and use our giftedness and potential
-to love and to continue loving even when there is no positive response from the one being loved.
Most importantly to be vulnerable is to know the paradoxical power in surrendering ourselves to God. It is to allow the power of God’s spirit to take over and to move through our being. It is to know that by ourselves we can do nothing, but with a surrendered heart we can do all things through the one who gives us strength. With a surrendered heart, we can have the power in us to do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. We can easily forget this gift of power and try to shield ourselves from any possible hurt, pain, question, doubt, heartache, risk, any of the tough stuff of life.” – Joyce Rupp
God is calling us to be vulnerable, to be like the trees in Autumn.
It is not an easy task. Jesus did not call the faint of heart.
With Jesus’ love and support we can do anything!
