Today’s reflection is by Susan Polis Schultz:

“ keep in mind at all times that you are very capable of dealing with any complications that life has to offer
So
do whatever you must, feel whatever you must and keep in mind at all times that we all grow wiser and become more sensitive and are able to enjoy life more after we go through hard times.”

How true! I know I’d prefer not to go through hard times but in my life I have always found that there is growth after going through hard times. All of us are going through these hard times together even though we are socially distant.

My reflection today is Practice Acceptance by Regina Hill

“ Acceptance means that you can find the serenity within to let go of the past with its mistakes and regrets, move into the future with a new perspective, and appreciate the opportunity to take a second chance.

Acceptance means you’ll find security again when difficult times come into your life, and comfort to relieve any pain. You’ll find new dreams, fresh hopes, and forgiveness of the heart.

Acceptance does not mean that you will always be perfect. It simply means that you’ll always overcome imperfection.

Acceptance is the road to peace – letting go of the worst, holding onto the best, and finding the hope inside the continues throughout life.

Acceptance is the heart’s best defense, love’s greatest asset, and the easiest way to keep your thoughts positive.”

I guess during these times this is something that all of us can work on with God’s loving guidance!

Enjoy this gorgeous day!

Today’s reflections come from A Daybook of Positive Thinking:

“ Thought is the great builder in human life: it is the determining factor. Continually think thoughts that are good, and your life will show forth in goodness… Think thoughts of love, and you will love and will be loved” Ralph Waldo Trine

“ The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes.” William James

“ There are no limitations in what you can do except the limitations in your own mind as to what you cannot do.”  Darwin P. Kingsle

Today’s quotes remind us that the only thing that can defeat us is our attitude. Over the years, I have seen many people who have had devastating things that have affected their lives and yet they continued on. Yes, we are living in this pandemic  but it will not last forever.

The only way it will defeat us is if we allow it to defeat us. God is with us through it all!

Today’s reflection is from the poem:
Believe That You Can Do Anything and You Will
By Barbara Cage

“Imagine yourself to be the type of person you want to be, and then be it. You may have to let go of some bad habits and develop some more positive ones, but don’t give up – for it is only in trying and persisting that dreams come true.

Expect changes to occur, and realize that the power to make those changes comes from within you. Your thoughts and actions, your choices and decisions, and the way you spend your time determine who you are and who you will become.

You are capable and worthy of being and doing anything. You just need the discipline and determination to see it through. It won’t come instantly, and you may backslide from time to time, but don’t let that deter you. Never give up.

Life is an ever changing process, and nothing is final. Therefore, each moment and every new day is a chance to begin anew”

I guess during this pandemic we have many opportunities to do things that we never did before… A lot of time for reflection.

A time to look at the good in our life and thank God for all the gifts that have been given to us!

Today’s reflection comes from our Mercy Prayer Book:

“ Jesus, your mother showed herself to the children at Fatima in order to call us to conversion. Mindful of her message, we pray for wisdom and courage that we may hear the prompting of your spirit and accept conversion to your will. We ask you to grant this prayer that we may respond to your mother’s call. Amen”

Today is the feast of our Lady of Fatima.

Our Lady of Fatima is very special to me because that was my parish growing up. When our church was consecrated I was in the second grade and the First Communion class processed around the church and were part of the ceremony. I have so many fond memories from my parish community growing up.
Thank you God for gifting me with such a nurturing environment during my youth.

My reflection for today comes from Living Faith:

“ In our every day living, we may sometimes call on God to bless another in a special way. “God bless you” after a sneeze can be a prayer calling for good health. The shortened form, “bless you,” can be an acknowledgment of someone’s help or a way of expressing thanks. Another abbreviated phrase, “God bless,” is often the close of a phone conversation. Even our goodbyes are actually a prayer that means “God be with you.”

To pray, asking that the Holy One will bless another person, is powerful indeed. We are God’s creation, God’s handiwork. We honor the maker of heaven and earth when we know ourselves as beloved and pass that on to another.” Sr. Chris Koellhoffer, I.H.M

Today, I ask God to bless you and keep you close! During these difficult times remember that God is in our midst
If life seems to be too difficult turn to God and place all your cares in Jesus’ loving arms.

My reflection today comes from the prayer at Mass this morning

“O God, author of our freedom and our salvation, listen to the voice of our pleading and grant that those you have redeemed by the shedding of your Son’s blood may have life through you and, under your protection, rejoice forever unharmed. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen”

I also was struck by this short reflection:

“Every morning you are handed twenty four golden hours. They are some of the few things in this world that you get free of charge. If you had all the money in the world, you couldn’t buy an extra hour. What will you do with this priceless treasure?”
Author unknown

God is with us during each of our twenty four hours; whether we feel God’s presence or not.

My reflection today is from Fresh Bread by Joyce Rupp:

“I believe that my life will always know its season of hope, that I will find flowers after every finality of ice and snow, that I will find green, growing things after every harsh, barren reign of winter’s rage.

and most of all…

I believe in the Sower of all seeds, in the God of springtime, in the Giver of all good and growing things, my Lord and my God!”

I figured this was appropriate with tomorrow’s forecast of snow in May.
In spite of the snow, the pandemic, God is still present in our midst.

Sometimes it’s very difficult to understand but our faith and hope in a loving and caring God shines through the darkness.

Today’s reflection is from Anne Murray.

When I was principal at St. Joe’s I would use her songs during our morning prayer time.
I ask God to bless our children and families especially since the announcement was made that there will be no in school classes.

May God give parents and students the grace that they need to accept these times.

Thank you to all teachers for going above and beyond what they ever expected!

Today’s reflection is from Fresh Bread by Joyce Rupp:

“ I believe that the call to be a sower of the Word is a privilege and a blessing, that no one can ever earn the right or claim the duty, that it is a gift freely given and a ministry to be constantly celebrated in gratitude.

I believe that even the most insignificant aspects of life can be the seed of God’s gifting, that deeper faith can root and mature in very ordinary soil.”

Each one of us is called to be a sower of God’s word.

Many people use the phrase “keep the faith” I say don’t keep the faith – spread it
