My reflection today comes from our Mercy Prayer book:
“ To keep me from being too elated, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I appealed to the Lord about this, that it would leave me, but the Lord said to me,‘ my grace is sufficient for you for power is made perfect in weakness.‘ So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.”2 Corinthians 12: 7B – 10
The first time this passage spoke to me was when I was in the hospital many years ago. I was bleeding internally.
Jesus telling me my grace is sufficient for you. Really!!!
When everything is going fine each one of us can say yes that’s true; but when times are difficult do we believe it?
Right now, Jesus is telling us, ‘my grace is sufficient for you!’ For all our young athletes, I know it is difficult but ”my grace is sufficient for you. “It’s not easy but Jesus will get us through it.
