My reflection today is a prayer for Fathers:

“ God our Creator, we give you thanks and praise for fathers young and old. We pray for young fathers, newly embracing their vocation; may they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice. We pray for our own fathers around the world whose children are lost or suffering; may they know that our God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow. We pray for men who are not fathers but still mentor and guide with fatherly love and advice. We remember fathers, grandfathers, great grandfather’s, and godfathers, who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love.”

Today, I would just like to share with you words of wisdom from my dad who died when he was 47. I was in high school complaining about how he could be so happy first thing in the morning and he said: “ Every day I wake up. I thank God for another day of living.” Amen, Dad!

My reflection today comes from A Daybook of Positive Thinking:

“Nothing wastes more energy than worrying. The longer one carries a problem, the heavier it gets. Don’t take things too seriously. Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.” Douglas Pagels

“The happiest people in the world are those who have a hard time recalling their worries… and an easy time remembering their blessings.“
Alin Austin

Have a great weekend!

My reflection today comes from our Mercy Prayer Book:

“ Your love is beyond our understanding, oh God. You hold us in loving regard and cherish our tears. You are like a mother who tenderly cradles her child against the pain and suffering of life. May your love poured out so freely upon us flow through us to all in need of mercy. Make our hearts like that of Jesus. Amen”

Today is the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Please go back and re-read those words describing our God.
God’s love is beyond understanding and is compared to a mother cradling her child against pain and suffering of life.
What a perfect image of what God can do during this pandemic.
God cradling each one of us.❤️

My reflection today is from Living Faith:

“Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” Matthew 6:8.

If this gospel verse is true, it begs the questions: Why ask God for anything? If the Lord already knows our needs, why should we bother to pray?

Many of us approach God in prayer with a list of wishes. We know that God doesn’t always give us what we ask for, but if we trust that God knows our needs, then we can learn a great deal by what he actually does give us. We might ask God to spare us from difficult people and find that he increases our compassion for them instead. We might ask God to solve our problems and find that he renews our strength to face them.

So, why do we pray? Maybe it’s an opportunity to let God show us what our needs are. Maybe prayer allows us to accept with gratitude and humility whatever help God sees fit to give.

Father, you know what I need. Please show me.” Karla Manternach

When Jesus taught us and the disciples to pray he concluded they are father with thy will be done. I don’t know about you but sometimes I almost want to omit that part feeling that I know what is needed.
Our loving and faithful God is constantly teaching us, we just need to keep our eyes open.?

My reflection today comes from our Mercy prayer book:

“The God of life is in our midst, breathing energy and compassion into our hearts. We lift our voices in prayer and praise as we say:

Generous God, fill our heart!

We pray for the gift of gratitude that we may be thankful for each new day:

We pray for the gift of hope that we may be able to meet the challenges of each day with courage and conviction:

We pray for the gift of compassion that we may reach out to all who are oppressed, especially to women and men who struggle for equality and fullness of life:

We pray for the gift of joy that we may delight in the beauty of each person and in the mystery of your love:

We pray for the gift of peace that we may live in harmony with one another:”

our God is in our midst!

I believe that God is in our midst even in our deepest struggles.

Let us take the time today to reflect on how God is in our midst.❤️

My reflection today:

“ The world was made to be beautiful – but sometimes we get caught up in every day actions completely forgetting about this completely forgetting about that what is truly important are the simple, basic things in life – honest, pure emotions surrounded by the majestic beauty of nature. We need to concentrate on the freeness and peacefulness of nature and not on the driven material aspects of life. We need to smell the clear air after the rainfall and appreciate the good in things. Each of us must be responsible and do our part in order to help preserve a beautiful world – the waterfalls, the oceans, the mountains, the large gray boulders, the large green farms, the fluffy pink clouds, the sunrise and sunset, ladybugs, rainbows, dew, hummingbirds, butterflies, dandelions. We need to remember that we are here for a short time and that every day should count for something and that every day we should be thankful for all the natural beauty. The world is a wonderful place and we are so lucky to be part of it.” Susan Polis Schutz

Maybe this pandemic has given us time to stop and reflect on the beauty all around us. I don’t know about you, but I know there were so many times I was rushing to get to a meeting or an appointment that I never really had the time to look at the beauty all around our world. Thank you God for all the wonderful gifts around us.

My reflection today:

“ Troubles are only mental; it is the mind that manufactures them, and the mind can gorge them, banish them, abolish them.”

“ Drag your thoughts away from your troubles… it’s the healthiest thing a body can do.” Both quotes are from Mark Twain

Our mind controls so much. The more we let God into our life the more peaceful we can become. I’ve talked to many people and they have said they have cut down watching all the news because it just drags them down. Yes, we need to be aware but we cannot let it consume us. On this feast of the Body and Blood of Christ let us remember we are all one Body. The Body of Christ.?

My reflection today is called,
How to Be Happy by Robert Louis Stevenson:

1. Make up your mind to be happy. Learn to find pleasure in the simple things.
2. Make the best of your circumstances. No one has everything, and everyone has something of sorrow intermingled with gladness of life. The trick is to make the laughter outweigh the tears.
3. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Don’t think that somehow you should be protected from misfortune that befalls other people.
4. You can’t please everybody. Don’t let criticism worry you.
5. Don’t let your neighbor set your standards. Be yourself.
6. Do the things you enjoy doing, but stay out of debt.
7. Never borrow trouble. Imaginary things are harder to bear than real ones.
8. Since hate poisons the soul, do not cherish jealousy, enmity, grudges. Avoid people who make you unhappy.
9. Have many interests. If you can’t travel, read about new places.
10. Don’t hold postmortems. Don’t spend your time brooding over sorrows or mistakes. Don’t be one who never gets over things.
11. Do what you can for those less fortunate than yourself.
12. Keep busy at something. A busy person never has time to be unhappy.”

I guess nothing else needs to be said. It’s gorgeous out there enjoy the day.

My reflection today continues from Fresh Bread by Joyce Rupp:

“ This month read the daily newspaper with an eye for some hopeful news. Circle and cut out these items and place them where you will see them often.
Each evening before you sleep, reflect on your day. Jot down one thing that was a sign of hope for you. Keep adding to your list all during the month of June. Let it be a hopeful sign to you, like a little rainbow on a cloudy day. “See the rainbow and praise its maker“ (Sirach 43:11). Lift up your heart in hope and share that hope with others.”

During these very difficult times let us try to be hopeful in rainbow callers for one another.?
